I've gone for months now avoiding having to do this BUT...... This may seem harsh to some but it is necessary because of the actions of the few. Few being as many as 11 at once at times. This is a Vintage or Antique EDW K TRYON PHILADELPHIA 1-Blade Swell End Jack Folding Pocket Knife with an Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Clip Point Main Blade with a Common Nail Pull, a Very Nice Set of Ivory Colored Composition Scales (could almost pass as smooth white bone) with Some Minor Pressure Cracks on the Center Pins, Three (3) Nickel Silver Handle Pins in Each Scale, Brightly Polished Nickel Silver Single Flute Bolsters, Brightly Polished Nickel Silver Silver Flute Rounded End Caps, Brightly Polished Steel Liners, a Single Steel Back Spring with No Breaks or Cracks, 3 3/16 in Length, Made by Edward K Tryon of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania between c. This is a Vintage or Antique Edw K Tryon Philadelphia 1-Blade Swell End Jack Folding Folding Pocket Knife. The knife has a lightly used or sharpened carbon steel clip point blade with a common nail pull. Both blade faces are clean and bright with only some extremely light and hard to see scratches from use. Stamped on the front tang is EDW K TRYON CO (in an arch)(over) PHILADELPHIA (over) PA.
The blade still has good snap on open and close and a good "thump" on the half-stop. The scales on this knife are a nice looking set of ivory colored composition but they could pass as smooth white bone. There are three (3) tight and short pressure cracks on the center pin on the front scale. One on each side and one underneath from the pin to the liner.Kind of hard to notice. There is also a single short tight crack on the rear center. There are three (3) nickel silver handle pins in each scale.
The knife has brightly polished single flute squared nickel silver bolsters and brightly polished nickel silver single flute rounded end caps. The liners are steel or iron.The knife has a single steel back spring and its free of any breaks or cracks and continues to perform the functions it was designed to perform. This is a nice hard to find and uncommon Vintage Edward K Tryon Co of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 1-blade swell end jack and is 3 3/16 in length and made between 1811 and c.
